4987287One of my favorite parables in the Bible is the one of the lost sheep. In Luke 15 it states:
"4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?
5 And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.
7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance."
Jesus Christ, even though having 99 found sheep, goes after the one lost lamb. How many times have we been the lost one? I know I have. We are not forgotten to the Lord. He knows us by name. He knows where we are in life and rescues us from the mist of darkness if we allow Him to. He is the good shepherd who loves and protects His fold.
"38 Behold, I say unto you, that the good shepherd doth call you..." (Alma 5:38) He calls upon all of us to come unto Him. Jesus Christ is the way to eternal happiness and salvation. He is the light that leads us out of darkness. If we listen to the voice of our shepherd we will surely never be lost. And when you are lost, seek the voice of the Savior calling you by name, for He is constantly searching for His lost lamb.
